Probios®
Microbial Products
Q. What is Probios?
A. Probios Microbial Products contain a unique blend
of proprietary strains of naturally occurring lactic acid-producing
bacteria, which help to optimize the functioning of the digestive
tract. Probios helps animals to maintain their feed intake, which
helps to maintain or improve performance such as milk production and
weight gain.
Q. Is Probios a wormer?
A. No. However, Probios may be especially effective
after worming because antibiotics and anthelmintics can greatly reduce
the number of beneficial, lactic acid bacteria normally found in the
digestive tract. Lactic acid bacteria are necessary to optimize the
functioning of the digestive tract.
Q. Can I use the Probios for my horse (or the Equine product
for my cow, etc)?
A. Yes. However, the different products were designed
to address the specific needs of that animal species. Follow the feeding
directions that correspond to the animal species you are feeding.
Q. What is the difference between Probios Feed Granules and
Probios Dispersible Powder (previously called 180R and 180D)?
A. Probios Feed Granules (180R) looks like granules
and is on a limestone carrier that is not water soluble. It can be
used to top-dress or mix into dry feed. Probios Dispersible Powder
(180D) looks like coffee creamer, and is on a whey carrier so it will
disperse in liquid. It can be mixed in water or milk replacer, top-dressed,
or mixed into dry feed.
Q. How often should I feed Probios, and how much?
A. Follow the general directions on the product label.
For more specific situations, call Vets Plus, Inc. at (800) 468-3877
to talk with our Customer Relations Specialist or staff veterinarian
about your particular situation. Probios contains only natural and
inert ingredients, so overfeeding is not a concern.
Q. Can I give Probios during antibiotic treatment?
A. Antibiotics kill pathogenic microorganisms, as
well as the beneficial bacteria, that are normally found in the intestinal
tract. Give Probios before (if possible), during, and especially after
antibiotic treatment to help re-establish the normal flora and functioning
of the digestive system.
